Jetpack 9.6: Sell more stuff with Search for your Woo Store

This month, we’re excited to announce official support for WooCommerce in Jetpack Search. If you’re serious about your online store, giving people the ability to quickly find exactly what they want to buy is a must.

In addition, we’ve been adding better functionality to blocks and making maintenance and performance improvements. Let’s dive in!

Introducing Jetpack Search for WooCommerce

This release includes a brand new interface for showcasing items from your store:

Responsive, gridded layout for WooCommerce products in Instant Search.
Non-product results can be shown alongside WooCommerce products if desired.

This will be the new default for WooCommerce sites activating a new Jetpack Search subscription. For existing customers, you can enable the new product result format within the Jetpack Search section of your WordPress Customizer. While there, you can also configure Jetpack Search to exclude certain post types, such as pages and posts, from appearing in your search results.

We also made Jetpack Search even faster on your site! This release significantly reduces the size of the JavaScript assets that enable the Instant Search experience. We’ve also added lazy loading of search result images, which defers loading these images until they are visible to the user.

More controls for your favorite blocks

There is now added flexibility for some popular blocks:

  • Width adjustments are available for Subscriptions, Revue, Form, Calendly, and Payments blocks
  • Zero star rating is an option for the Star Rating block
  • It’s easier to edit existing galleries for the Tiled Gallery block
  • Easier to delete videos with the Video block

More maintenance and performance improvements

We’ve been busy working behind the scenes to improve the reliability of our blocks and to simplify the experience connecting to the Jetpack plugin.
